Computers, Internet & Email Access

We have 27 IBM compatible computers are available in various departments for public use. They offer Internet access and Microsoft Office 2003 Suite featuring Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word; you are limited to the programs and equipment provided by the library. All computers have printers available, the charge is 10¢ per page for black & white printouts, and 50¢ per page for color printouts. Removable media to save your work is available for purchase. 3.5" floppy disks are $1, blank CDs are $2.

Staff provides limited assistance for basic startup procedures. If you have never used computers or have specific questions about software, there are instruction manuals, self-help tutorials and videos available for use. We also offer one-on-one computer classes covering basic use of computers, the internet, and email. Call us at 687-9228 to make an appointment.

The Internet provides access to other computer systems throughout the world. Users are advised that some systems contain materials that are offensive, inaccurate, or illegal. Campbell County Public Library supports intellectual freedom, but does filter internet access. Anyone under the age of 18 must use filtered Internet access unless they are being assisted by a parent, guardian or library staff member, or have parental permission for unfiltered access, indicated by a sticker on their library card and a note in their patron record.

Campbell County Public Library System uses a pc management system to ensure fair and equal access to computers for all patrons. Tampering with this system or otherwise violating our Internet Responsible Use Policy may result in suspension of library privileges and exclusion from the library, as well as prosecution.

At Campbell County Public Library:

In Children's:

There are three computers for non-internet use in the Children's Department. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Over twenty programs offer learning opportunities and support educational themes for preschool through sixth grade children.

A grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has provided eight computers to the Children's Department. They offer Internet access, word processing and educational software to children and students from preschool through sixth grade.

Students may print their work. The first five pages are free, after that the cost is 10¢ per page for black & white printouts and 50¢ per page for color printouts.

In Reference:

The Library provides thirteen computers in the adult area, offering Internet access and word processing . Reservations can be made in person or by calling 687-0115 and they may be reserved up to one day in advance.

We also provide a scanner to facilitate word processing and Internet use. Scan and print or scan and email photos or text. Photo paper may be purchased for $1.00 from the Reference Desk.

In Young Adult:

The Library provides six computers in the Teen Room. They offer Internet access and word processing for students in grades 7-12. Reservations can be made in person or by calling 687-9227 and they may be reserved up to one day in advance. Students may print their work. The first five pages are free, after that the cost is 10¢ per page for black & white printouts and 50¢ per page for color printouts.

At Wright Branch Library:

There is one computers available for non-internet use in the Children's area at Wright Branch. This children's computer has a variety of educational games and programs available.

The library offers five computers with Internet access and word processing:

  • Two for use by patrons of any age.
  • One for use of adults only.
  • One for use by students in grades 7-12.
  • One for use by children in preschool through sixth grade.

Reservations can be made in person or by phone by calling 464-0500 and they may be reserved up to one day in advance.

Computer use is a privilege. Library staff may refuse access at their discretion.
